Volunteer Bereavement Counsellors                                    

Reports To: Head of Family and Carers Support Team/Bereavement Lead

Location: In the person’s home/ community or at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice

Hours: Flexible – generally 4 plus hours per week

Making a Difference: The support given by our Volunteer Bereavement Counsellors means a great deal to vulnerable, bereaved people. You can really make a difference by supporting people as they find ways to live with their grief and manage their day to day lives.

Key Duties

You will…  

  • Offer bereavement counselling and support to the families and friends of our patients. 
  • Work with people at any point in their bereavement. 
  • Give people the support they need to find ways of coping with their grief

Will the role suit me? YES, if you are…

  • A counsellor with a relevant qualification
  • An enthusiastic and motivated individual who has 4 plus hours a week available to provide this much needed service
  • Someone with experience of working with grief
